Boot Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) from USB for private browsing and secure work — no installation required. Tails routes traffic through Tor by default and does not save data to the computer unless you explicitly configure optional persistence.
Why Tails?
- Privacy-first: routes connections via Tor; avoids writing to the internal drive by default.
- Secure defaults: curated apps configured for safer communications and file handling.
- Portable: carry your environment on a USB and use on many PCs.
📦 Package / What’s Included
- Bootable Live USB (dual USB-A/USB-C connector) with Tails pre-flashed.
- Quick-start guide: how to boot, basic Tor & safety tips.
- Optional packaging: standard bubble mailer or gift tin case (select above).
💻 Compatibility & Requirements
- Systems: 64-bit (x86_64) PCs that can boot from USB (UEFI or Legacy BIOS).
- RAM: 4 GB+ recommended.
- Secure Boot: some PCs may require disabling Secure Boot to start external media.
- Not for ARM-only Macs (M1/M2/M3).
- Internet connection: Ethernet, integrated Wi-Fi or Linux supported plug-n-play Wi-Fi USB Dongle.
⚙️ How to Use
- Insert the USB, power on the PC, press the boot-menu key (F12, Esc, F10, F2, etc.), and select the USB device.
- Start Tails and follow the welcome prompts; wait for Tor to connect before browsing.
- When finished, shut down; session data is erased by default.

🗂 Optional: Enable Persistence (Advanced)
By default, we have disabled persistence storage capability, so that no data can be leaked in any way. However, if you still wish to save data on the actual USB Flash Drive with Tails OS itself: under "Software features" > select "Persistence Storage Capability (32GB USB)".
The Persistent Storage is not hidden. An attacker in possession of your USB stick can know that there is a Persistent Storage. Take that in consideration as you could be forced or tricked to give out passphrase to access that data!
⚠️ Safety & Known Limits
- Tor can be slower than normal Internet; some sites may block or challenge Tor traffic.
- Adding browser extensions, logging into personal accounts, or opening certain document types may reduce privacy.
- Full-disk encryption (BitLocker/LUKS) or special drivers may limit access to internal data.
- VPNs are generally not recommended with Tails (can reduce anonymity); follow official guidance.
